Hi there, my name is Yu-Hsiang WANG (he/him/his).
Born in Taiwan, I am a reporter and communications specialist based in Paris. Dedicated to humanitarian work with a particular focus on migration, refugees and gender, I am currently serving as the Regional Media and Communications Officer at the International Organization for Migration (UN Migration), Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific.
As a migrant myself, I am committed to leveraging my professional endeavours to magnify the voices of migrants and refugees facing vulnerable circumstances. Often, these individuals are denied the opportunity to share their own narratives, stories that are imbued with courage, resilience, and persistence. Shedding light on these experiences, I strive to foster empathy, understanding, and a shared sense of humanity that transcend borders and cultures.

As a Taiwanese citizen, I understand the pain to have an unrecognised identity, a hurdle I constantly face during my migration journey and in my workplace.
As such, I am a strong believer that words and representations matter.
In my professional roles, I always prioritise inclusivity and diversity, ensuring that the articles or audiovisual materials I create capture the authentic voices of the people/events they report on, leaving no one behind.
I believe that migrants play a pivotal role in fostering the prosperity of host societies.
Through my work, I hope to provide the readers with a comprehensive understanding of migrants' journeys and highlight their positive contributions to their new communities. In this regard, my goal is to challenge and counteract negative narratives surrounding these individuals, acknowledging them as integral components of the social fabric.
As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community (cis-gay man), I specifically focus on gender perspectives in my articles and content. Through my work, I wish to contribute to the elimination of gender-based discriminations targeting specific communities.
